Our process for vercel ai sdk rag systems
A fixed four-step path from first call to production, with weekly demos and a hard launch date.
Corpus audit
We look at your actual documents and establish what retrieval quality is achievable, because RAG quality is set by the corpus far more than by the model.
Deliverable
Corpus assessment & baseline
Chunking & retrieval design
We design chunking, embedding, and the retrieval strategy, including where hybrid or re-ranked search beats pure vector similarity.
Deliverable
Retrieval architecture
Build & measure retrieval
We build the pipeline and measure retrieval quality separately from generation quality, because conflating them hides the actual fault.
Deliverable
Pipeline & retrieval metrics
Deploy & monitor
We ship with citation rendering, freshness handling, and monitoring on retrieval quality over time.
Deliverable
Live system & monitoring

Book your systems auditOverview
Most AI features fail because they lack business context. Standard RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines are often fragile, passing poorly formatted text chunks into rigid prompts.
Our Vercel AI SDK RAG Systems service builds robust retrieval pipelines native to the Vercel ecosystem. We ensure your language models only answer questions using the exact documentation, databases, and policies you authorize.
Key Capabilities
-
Vector Database Integration
We connect the SDK's streaming functions directly to Pinecone, Qdrant, or pgvector, ensuring sub-second retrieval times. -
Agentic RAG Workflows
We move beyond standard semantic search. We build agents that can use tools to query multiple databases, compare results, and synthesize complex answers. -
Dynamic Context Windows
We optimize what gets injected into the prompt, preventing context overflow and reducing inference costs while maintaining high accuracy.
Why Partner With Us?
- End-to-End Delivery: We handle the embedding pipelines, the vector storage, and the final SDK streaming UI.
- Accuracy First: We build systems that know when to say "I don't know" instead of guessing.
- Native Implementation: We use the native tool-calling features of the Vercel AI SDK, meaning fewer dependencies and easier maintenance.

Why does our RAG system give wrong answers?
Nearly always because retrieval returned the wrong context, not because the model reasoned badly, and the two get conflated constantly. If the right passage never reaches the model, no amount of prompt tuning saves the answer. The first thing we do is measure retrieval quality on its own, and in most systems we are asked to fix, that measurement locates the problem within days.
Is vector search enough on its own?
Frequently not. Pure semantic similarity struggles with exact identifiers, product codes, names, and negation, which is why hybrid search combining keyword and vector retrieval, often with a re-ranking pass, usually outperforms it on real corpora. Which combination wins depends on your documents and your queries, so we test rather than assume.
How do we keep the index fresh as documents change?
With an explicit re-indexing strategy decided at design time: incremental updates on a change feed where your source systems can emit one, scheduled rebuilds where they cannot, and deletion handling so retired documents stop being retrieved. Stale retrieval is one of the most damaging failure modes because the system stays confident while quietly going out of date.
Should answers cite their sources?
Yes, in almost every business context. Citations let a user verify an answer in one click, which is what makes the system trustworthy enough to actually get used, and they make debugging enormously easier because you can see exactly what the model was given. We build citation rendering in from the start rather than adding it later.
