Our process for vercel ai sdk enterprise architecture
A fixed four-step path from first call to production, with weekly demos and a hard launch date.
Current state review
We review the existing systems, constraints, compliance obligations, and what has already been attempted internally.
Deliverable
Current state assessment
Target architecture
We design the model access layer, the data boundaries, the observability plane, and the governance controls as one coherent system.

Target architecture & ADRs
Migration path
We define an incremental path from here to there that delivers value before the end state, because multi-year rewrites do not survive contact with a budget cycle.

Sequenced roadmap
Enablement
We work alongside your engineers so the design is understood and owned internally rather than handed over as a document.

Building a prototype with the Vercel AI SDK takes an afternoon. Scaling it to handle thousands of concurrent users across a global enterprise takes serious engineering.
Our Vercel AI SDK Enterprise Architecture service is designed for large-scale deployments. We tackle the hard problems: rate limiting, failover routing, compliance, and zero-downtime model upgrades.
Key Capabilities
-
High-Availability Routing
We implement dynamic fallback routing. If OpenAI goes down or hits a rate limit, the SDK automatically seamlessly switches to Anthropic or Azure without dropping the user's request. -
Compliance & Data Residency
We configure your implementation to ensure sensitive data is scrubbed before hitting external APIs and that processing respects regional data residency laws. -
Cost Allocation & Tenant Isolation
We build middleware to track token usage per user or per tenant, allowing you to accurately calculate margins and enforce usage quotas in multi-tenant SaaS products.
Why Partner With Us?
- Enterprise Experience: We understand the strict requirements of enterprise IT, InfoSec, and procurement teams.
- Resilience: We design systems that assume external LLM providers will fail, ensuring your application stays online.
- Unbiased Guidance: We aren't tied to any single model provider. We help you choose the right mix of proprietary and open-source models for your scale.
If your AI implementation needs to survive enterprise traffic, we should talk.

OpenAI Agents API vs a Custom Harness: When the Hosted Beta Is Enough
OpenAI's Agents API public beta (10 September 2026) is a hosted Codex harness with compaction and recovery. Here is when to use it, when to keep your own runtime, and what you give up on day one.
Read itLong-Horizon Agent State Machines: Deterministic Checkpoint & Resume for 24-Hour Tasks
When an agent executes an 80-step migration or multi-hour codebase audit, in-memory state is a disaster waiting to happen. Here is how to architect durable finite state machines, snapshot ledgers, and atomic rollback points.
Read itMCP vs Native Tool Calling: Protocol Contracts and Blast Radius at Enterprise Scale
Model-native function calling gets demos running in an afternoon. As soon as you scale to dozens of internal services, non-human identities, and cross-team security boundaries, Model Context Protocol (MCP) becomes an operational necessity.

What does an AI architecture engagement actually produce?
Architecture decision records rather than a slide deck: the model access layer, the data and tenancy boundaries, the observability plane, the governance controls, and a sequenced migration path, each with the reasoning and the rejected alternatives written down. The reasoning matters more than the diagram, because it is what lets your team make consistent decisions after we leave.
How do we avoid locking ourselves into one model vendor?
With a provider abstraction at the application boundary so model choice is configuration rather than architecture, evals that let you actually compare a candidate model on your own workload, and prompts kept in version control separately from application code. Complete portability is a myth worth being honest about, since capable models differ in real ways, but the difference between a week's work and a quarter's is entirely a design decision made early.
Should we build a central platform or let teams build their own?
It depends on how many teams and how similar their needs are, and both answers are defensible. A central platform pays off when several teams need the same model access, governance, and observability, and becomes a bottleneck when it is imposed on one team with an unusual requirement. We usually recommend centralising the boring, compliance-relevant layers such as access, logging, and cost accounting, while leaving application-level choices to the teams.
Can you work with our existing engineers rather than replacing them?
That is how we prefer to run these engagements. An architecture your team did not participate in designing is one they will work around within six months. We work alongside your engineers, write the decisions down, and treat internal ownership as the deliverable.
